The oil mist lubricating device uses compressed air as the power to atomize the oil, that is, a dry oil mist with a particle size of less than 2 μm, which is like a smoke, and then is transported to the lubrication site through the pipeline. Before the oil mist enters the lubrication point, it is necessary to pass a component called a "condensing nozzle" to make the oil mist into large, wet oil particles, and then throw it on the friction surface for lubrication. Compressed air and some tiny oil mist particles are discharged to the atmosphere through sealed gaps or special exhaust holes.
Oil mist lubrication is suitable for the lubrication of closed gears, worm gears, chains, slides, guide rails and bearings.
At present, in metallurgical enterprises, oil mist lubrication devices are commonly used for large-scale, high-speed, heavy-duty rolling bearings (such as support roller bearings for partial eight-roll cold rolling mills).
Compared with other lubrication methods, oil mist lubrication has many advantages:
1. The oil mist can spread with the compressed air to the friction parts that need to be lubricated. Can obtain good and uniform lubrication effect;
2. Compressed air has low specific heat and high flow rate, and it is easy to take away the heat generated by friction.
3. Greatly reduced the consumption of lubricant.
4. The thinner oil circulation lubrication system has a simple and lightweight structure, a small footprint, low power consumption, convenient maintenance and management, easy to implement automatic control, and low cost;
5. Because the oil mist has pressure, it can play a good sealing role, avoiding the invasion of the friction pair by foreign impurities, moisture, etc.
However, there are some disadvantages to oil mist lubrication. Pay attention to the following points when selecting:
1. The discharged compressed air contains a small amount of suspended oil particles, which pollutes the environment and is detrimental to the health of the operator. Therefore, it is necessary to add a ventilation and exhaust device;
2. Not suitable for motor bearings. Because oil mist penetrates the motor windings will reduce the insulation performance and shorten the service life of the motor;
3. The transportation distance of the oil mist should not be too long, it is generally more reliable within 30m, and the length should not exceed 80m;
4. With a compressed air system.
Due to the above disadvantages of oil mist lubrication, its use is limited. But its advantages are not compared with other lubrication methods. Therefore, it will be used in metallurgical equipment.
